A villa outside Paris, 1912. Ladmiral (Louis Ducreux), a painter of modest accomplishment and greater fame, routinely invites his bourgeois son (Michel Aumont) and family each Sunday to his leafy estate when on one particular afternoon his daughter (Sabine Azéma) suddenly bursts in—single, glamorous, erratic, and exciting—and brings drama to the idyll. Tavernier himself provides the voiceover narration.
