Two generations of French movie stars team up in this heist picture, as frequent Verneuil star Jean Gabin portrays a veteran criminal who enlists wild-card former cellmate Delon to help him finesse a raid on a Cannes casino vault, and takes care to keep anxious wife Viviane Romance (Panique) out of the loop. Co-written by Michel Audiard (father of filmmaker Jacques) and edited by Verneuil’s wife Françoise Bonnot, future Oscar winner for Z.
