Although, unlike its lauded predecessor, this adaptation was not nominated for anything, it is definitely The Fast and The Furious version of the famous biblical epic. It’s a hoot and that’s a compliment. This energetic costume melodrama is exactly what’s expected from a Kazakhstani born producer/director whose first success was about vampires and the assorted undead going crazy in Moscow, and, who, having navigated Hollywood wisely, now lives in Walt Disney’s old home. Jack Huston plays Ben-Hur and Morgan Freeman plays Morgan Freeman.
