Three cinema rebels (Abel Ferrara, director; Larry Cohen, story; Stuart Gordon, screenwriter) come together for this third adaptation of Jack Finney’s classic sci-fi novel, this time seen through the lens of a teenage girl. An EPA scientist (Terry Kinney) winds up at an Alabama military base (a location prime for rigid conformism and corruption) while his young daughter (Gabriel Anwar) slowly begins to uncover the horrific goings-on surrounding the strange mercurial behavior of those around her. Featuring 90’s grunge sensibilities, moody teen girl POV and even coming-of-age motifs, Body Snatchers slow-crawls with tension and moody atmospherics.
