After a series of Roger Corman quickies (including the terrific women-in-prison saga Caged Heat), Jonathan Demme first declared his love of American eccentrics in this ensemble comedy about people for whom CB radios are the means to express the personalities they keep hidden in their everyday lives. The result is like a blue-collar Preston Sturges comedy, a love song to American dreamers, wackos and cranks. Print courtesy of the UCLA Film and Television Archive
