Before his wiggy ’70s Dracula movies at Hammer, Gibson made his directorial debut for the studio with a twisted psychological suspenser. Grad student Stefanie Powers (of Hammer’s Fanatic) arrives at the South of France home of the late composer she’s researching, but her stay becomes ever more creepy both upstairs—where the man’s tormented addict son James Olson resides—and downstairs, care of indolent household help Joss Ackland and Jane Lapotaire.
