Goldblum and Laurence Fishburne earned Independent Spirit Award nominations as, respectively, a slippery drug-trafficking lawyer and an over-embedded undercover cop, in a topical crime thriller scripted by Michael Tolkin and Henry Bean. The pulp-fiction-worthy supporting cast includes rapper Def Jef, Sandra Gould (Bewitched), Kamala Lopez, Clifton Powell, Gregory Sierra, Roger Guenveur Smith, Glynn Turman, and Clarence Williams III.
