Producer Alain Siritzky took charge of the Emmanuelle franchise—and would repeatedly reboot the character in decades to come—with this direct sequel, also known as Emmanuelle: The Joys of a Woman. Sylvia Kristel returns in the lead role, enjoying a very open marriage to her diplomat husband (now played by Umberto Orsini). Indonesian actress Laura Gemser, who appears here as a masseuse, promptly began starring in her own Emanuelle (sic) movies.
