Acting as producer, Marker encouraged the participation of filmmaking peers, all of whom came out in support of North Vietnam as the U.S. escalated the war. Extensive documentary footage includes anti-war protests in New York City; Godard’s segment Camera-Eye features himself onscreen; and, in a scripted portion, Resnais deploys journeyman actor Bernard Fresson (The Tenant) to portray conflicted “Claude Ridder.”
