Hammer’s fifth Frankenstein film finds franchise helmer Fisher steering the series into darker waters as Peter Cushing’s Baron Frankenstein strong-arms young couple Simon Ward and Veronica Carlson into aiding and abetting him as he sets about transplanting mad doctor George Pravda’s brain into the body of the hapless Freddie Jones. The studio’s frequent assistant director Bert Batt served double duty on this film, supplying the screenplay as well.
