Five flights up on the Upper West Side, twentysomething Melanie Mayron and Anita Skinner live as BFFs—at least until Skinner pairs up with Bob Balaban, leaving Mayron to grapple with solitude. Director/producer Weill’s feature debut was a true NYC indie to which Girls and Sex and the City can trace lineage; she conceived the story with Vicki Polon, who scripted the bittersweet comedy.
