Ryder plays it button-cute and thoughtfully grounded as Myra Gale Brown, the teen who fell for—and married—her cousin, 1950s rockabilly phenomenon Jerry Lee Lewis (Myra’s own book was source material for the film). Dennis Quaid unleashes wild-man gusto as The Killer, though it’s Lewis’ own voice heard during the musical numbers. With Alec Baldwin as evangelist Jimmy Swaggart, Trey Wilson as Sun Records mogul Sam Phillips, and a Peter Cook cameo.
