This low-budget sword-and-sandals adventure co-directed by Bava and Franco Prosperi (of Mondo Cane infamy) is a surprisingly robust blend of Gothic imagery and colorful set design with mythological elements. To save his betrothed Princess Deianara from illness, Hercules (Reg Park) descends into Hades to find a magical stone, only to discover she has been abducted by the villainous Lyco (Christopher Lee).
