Louisiana detective and recovering alcoholic Tommy Lee Jones is on the trail of a serial killer, his efforts thwarted by John Goodman and Ned Beatty, the larger-than-life power brokers of the area, who are as eccentric as they are wild. As the past haunts the present, he’s aided at times by the (imagined?) ghost of a Confederate general.
