A candid all-access and frankly mind-boggling look at Jim Carrey’s way-beyond-method behavior while playing Andy Kaufman in Milos Forman’s 1999 biopic The Man on the Moon. On-set footage kept under wraps until now finds Carrey staying in character 24/7, by turns bemusing, unnerving, and infuriating his director and fellow cast members past the point when things stop being funny and become kind of serious. A singular meditation on performance as metaphysics and a making-of/behind-the-scenes like no other.
