Painter and filmmaker Julian Schnabel has been a mainstay of the New York art scene since the 70s, when he first gained notoriety as a young artist making large-scale expressionist works, only to segue into becoming an ambitious, award-winning director (Basquiat, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly). With footage from his personal archives and recent glimpses inside his home studio, this colorful documentary offers an intimate look into Schnabel’s artistic process and home life, told through the words of his extended family, friends, and contemporaries.
