In yet another hit for the durable de Broca/Belmondo duo, the actor riffs on his own movie persona while ribbing James Bond as a spy novelist who can’t help but fantasize himself into his he-man narratives. His latest burst of creativity and daydreaming also finds him interpolating neighbor Jacqueline Bisset and book editor Vittorio Caprioli into the mayhem, even as de Broca knowingly laces the tale-telling with a melancholy accent.
