In this romantic dramatization of a real-life Resistance cell during WWII, Lucie (Carole Bouquet, in a role originally meant for Juliette Binoche) rescues her husband Raymond (Daniel Auteuil) from the clutches of the Gestapo on multiple occasions. Yet Raymond is confronted by notorious Butcher of Lyon Klaus Barbie and, in a still-controversial incident, is tortured to reveal the name of Jean Moulin, leader of the Resistance.
