In 1814, passionate, rebellious teenager Mary Wollstonecroft (a luminous Elle Fanning) finds a kindred spirit in married poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (Douglas Booth). Their whirlwind affair scandalizes English society, but leaves her facing a bitter tragedy — a change of fortune that will inspire her most indelible creation: the world’s first science fiction novel, Frankenstein.
