Lyon streetwalker Anouk Grinberg (named Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival) throws herself into her vocation with enthusiasm and customer care, and falls in love with homeless Gérard Lanvin, whom she takes in. Blier upped the eroticism and socioeconomic relevance—and corralled some guest cameos (Jean-Pierre Léaud, Aurore Clément, Sabine Azéma) for his female-driven character study, with Grinberg and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (as Lanvin’s own fixation) both receiving César Award nominations.
