Screened September 13–October 11, 2019

The third feature from award-winning filmmaker Justin Chon (Gook), this poignant drama follows the emotional journeys of semi-estranged siblings Kasie (Tiffany Chu) and Carey (Teddy Lee). Abandoned by their mother and raised by their father, emotional childhood wounds continue to impact their respective adult lives. Now, with their father on his deathbed, Carey reluctantly returns to his home in L.A.’s Koreatown to help his sister shoulder the caregiving load, slowly rebuilding their relationship along the way. Imbued with Antonioni-esque ennui and lensed with vivid neon hues, Ms. Purple is both a deeply felt character study and an affecting portrait of sibling-hood.

Official Selection: Sundance Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival

An Oscilloscope Laboratories release.
