Hearing that his son has been kidnapped, Julien (Guillaume Canet) speeds along the snow-capped roads of eastern France to where his ex-wife Marie (Melanie Laurent) still resides, only to find himself thrust into a dangerous and complex web of lies. This terse, atmospheric film from director Christian Carion (Joyeux Noel) was shot in six days with a largely improvised performance from Canet, lending this nail-bitingly effective thriller an invigorating authenticity.
