Never one to shy away from discomfiting situations, Blier paired two beloved French stars for an unconventional romantic tale. Alain Delon (who also produced the film) has nearly gone under from his drinking, but a hookup with stranger-on-a-train Nathalie Baye spurs him to latch onto her in hopes of stability—presuming at least one of them can separate reality from fantasy. Delon and Blier won César Awards for, respectively, acting and screenwriting.
