This twisted gangster film is a deadpan satire on the blood-lust at the heart of Silent Majority America. Marvin is sent by the Chicago mob to collect from Midwestern meat magnate and drug runner Gene Hackman, who refuses to pay his debts. Sissy Spacek, in her first official credit, is the hippie Marvin rescues.
