A young prince banished to a deadly, sacred mountain falls for a raccoon princess (played by Zhang Ziyi, don’t ask). A fever dream of color, patterns, and movement with obviously fake sets that are bewilderingly elaborate (and sometimes even animated). The story is filled with non-sequiturs, and the musical numbers run the gamut in style and genre.
