Nearly lost due to bankruptcy, this oft-overlooked and unpredictable thriller tracks the claustrophobic aftermath of a robbery gone wrong as three criminals in a car abduct a young woman (and later a man and his sick child) to use as leverage with the police. Comparatively subdued, the film marks a stylistic departure for Bava while expanding on his nihilistic fascination with warped codes of morality.
