Quad Cinema reopened Friday, March 5th, after nearly a year, as COVID-19 restrictions have finally eased in New York City.
“We are in the business of keeping movie theaters open and are committed to serving the arts community. We support the films, filmmakers and distributors who need to find an audience.” — Quad Cinema owner Charles S. Cohen
The Quad reopened with the drama My Zoe (Blue Fox Entertainment), written, produced, directed and starring Julie Delpy, the relationship drama Supernova (Bleecker Street Media) co-starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci, Night of the Kings (NEON), the foreign language submission from the Ivory Coast, with David Oyelowo attached as executive producer, and The World to Come (Bleecker Street Media), a tale of forbidden romance between two women in mid-19th century East Coast America.
The Quad’s repertory programming is on hold for now and the focus will be on new release art house cinema. Cohen promises that the creativity will return and that his own Cohen Media Group distribution company has some exciting new restorations that will open at the Quad.
