Top French producer Robert Dorfmann (Le Cercle Rouge) landed Hollywood icon Rita Hayworth (in her penultimate film) to play a U.S. roadside diner proprietor whose hothouse private life with gentleman friend Ed Begley (in his final film) and daughter Mimsy Farmer (Four Flies on Grey Velvet) is stoked by the arrival of drifter Robert Walker Jr. Eerily resembling the woman’s late son, the interloper makes himself at home but may be in over his handsome head.
