Prep school student Chris O’Donnell agrees to spend Thanksgiving attending to blind ex-Army officer Pacino, who ups and heads for New York, where he winds up partnering Gabrielle Anwar in one of cinema’s great tango sequences. The Best Actor Oscar at last was Pacino’s, for one of his most enduring portrayals; Oscar nominations went to the rousing film, Brest, and—acknowledging the quotable dialogue—screenwriter Bo Goldman.
