Underground cartoonist Tom Hulce is suspected of murdering call girl and ex-lover Virginia Madsen and Stanton is the sympathetic detective handling the case. This flashy, slow-burning L.A. noir from Chan Is Missing indie stalwart Wayne Wang, making his mainstream debut, features Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and turns from ’80s musicians Adam Ant and John Doe (of punk band X fame).
