At a career apex, Carroll Baker took on a demanding lead role in a low-budget independent drama for then-husband Garfein. She plays a college student who is sexually assaulted near her Bronx home, with the internalized aftershocks of which lead to a suicide attempt on the Manhattan Bridge; passerby Ralph Meeker rescues and shelters her, but his intentions are uncertain. The film opens with the work of two maestros, title designer Saul Bass and composer Aaron Copland.
