After Larry McMurtry’s novel revisited the Anarene, Texas characters, Bogdanovich reunited with the majority of The Last Picture Show cast for a feisty and melancholy movie version. The ties of community endure 33 years later as Cybill Shepherd comes home to find long-ago beaus Jeff Bridges and Timothy Bottoms facing, respectively, financial pressures and health concerns. With Bridges’ longtime stand-in/stunt double Loyd Catlett and Annie Potts as Bridges’ tippling spouse.
