“The man-beast of Tibet” itself is hunted in the howlingly windy Himalayas by American adventurer Forrest Tucker (marking the last in a line of U.S. actors imported by Hammer as part of a co-production deal), who dragoons scientist Peter Cushing (in his Hammer debut) to undertake the perilous expedition. The tense what-will-we-find-there? mood is sustained and pays off, with strong support from music by Humphrey Searle, later to score The Haunting.
