Another country is heard from adapting the 19th-century novel Carmilla, with future Spanish middlebrow art-cinema director Aranda’s contemporary interpretation deploying considerable eroticism and—as the title portends—gore. Maribel Martín is already uncomfortable with husband Simón Andreu’s demands on their honeymoon, and once they visit his relatives’ castle she is perilously entranced by Alexandra Bastedo (of the U.K. secret-agent series The Champions).
