In St. Paul, an old neighborhood in Lyon, widower clockmaker Philippe Noiret learns that his son (Jacques Denis) has committed a shocking crime. Adapted from a Simenon novel, the film focuses on a bewildered father’s relationship with his wayward son and a friendly police inspector (Jean Rochefort) as he comes to understand what happened.
