Nineteenth-century pirates (among them the mesmerizing Joëlle Coeur) ply their trade diverting ships from their port of call, then wrecking and pillaging them. The crew then does its worst with survivors; left for dead after punishing violation, Patricia Hermenier and Lieva Lone make a deal with a devil (the film’s assistant director Miletic Zimovir), who grants them supernatural abilities to wreak revenge. Operating with a bigger budget than usual, Rollin shot the movie on location in Normandy.
