Right after Madame Claude, ’70s supermodel-turned-actress Dayle Haddon stepped into a starring role for Jaeckin, winking at a world she knew well: the magazines/media milieu. Jaeckin in turn harkened back to Old Hollywood class-clash romances—albeit with more sexuality—by throwing cosmopolitan editor Haddon together with the winner of the titular contest/publicity stunt, circus lion tamer Gérard Ismaël (billed, for his film debut, as Gérard Tybalt).
