Hammer Films veteran Sasdy notched his final feature credit on this brickbatted final major-studio release of a film based on a Harold Robbins novel, with the latter’s associate Robert B. Weston producing. Valley-raised aspiring screenwriter Pia Zadora survives a high-school assault by Ray Liotta (in his movie debut) and determines to make it as a scribe in Hollywood, weathering exploitation from men and women alike out of desire and/or jealousy.
