In this riveting modern noir with a shrewd political bent, a cynical Cairo detective is assigned the case of a singer murdered in a Nile hotel. He soon learns of the dead woman’s relationship with the hotel’s owner, a wealthy member of parliament. As the investigation hones in on “untouchable” elite, our anti-hero uncovers a web of corruption, only to find himself at the edge of history as Egypt’s 2011 uprising breaks out around him.
