Based on the novel by Georges Simenon, this rarely screened noir finds wealthy businessman François Donge (Jean Gabin) laid up in the hospital with a worsening condition. When he realizes he’s been poisoned by his wife, Bébé (Danielle Darrieux), who visits him daily to maintain appearances, he looks back on their life together to try to understand her motivations.
