Twisting romantic comedy in their capacity as up-for-anything Almodóvar troupers, Banderas and Victoria Abril steam up the screen as a newly sprung head case and the porn star he woos while keeping her tethered to a bed—although it’s her bath scene that goes beyond. The score by Ennio Morricone was his only one for Almodóvar; cinematographer José Luis Alcaine’s collaborations with director and star continue three decades on in this fall’s Pain and Glory.
