Initially overlooked but later a cult favorite, Moyle’s movie was part of a welcome wave of female coming-of-age dramas; Trini Alvarado and Robin Johnson meet and bond in a psychiatric hospital, then leave to live by their wits near the Hudson River and form punk band The Sleez Sisters, championed by radio DJ Tim Curry. Screenwriter Jacob Brackman produced with music-and-movies impresario Robert Stigwood, who brought the world Saturday Night Fever and Grease.
