The first installment in Gregg Araki’s Teen Apocalypse trilogy, Totally F***ed Up follows six queer Los Angeles teenagers who form a makeshift family as they bond through relationships, bed-hopping and societal rejection. A punk-rock mixture of Jean-Luc Godard and John Hughes films, Totally F***ed Up would go on to set a template for LGBTQ youth cinema and became one of the defining films of the New Queer Cinema movement of the 1990s.
