Under the Tree

Iceland/France, 89m, DCP

Showtimes & Tickets

Screened July 6–26, 2018

After being kicked out by his wife, thirtysomething Atli finds himself back at home, living with his retired parents. As he fights for custody of his daughter, he’s sent into a spiral of frustration and obsession, only to find himself at the center of an even bigger drama: the battle between his parents and their neighbors over an old tree. A riotous, pitch-black cringe comedy from the director of Either Way (remade in the U.S. by David Gordon Green as Prince Avalanche in 2013).

In Icelandic with English subtitles.
