This big budget final effort from “Master of Disaster” Irwin Allen was a bona fide commercial flop. Paul Newman stars as an oil driller in Hawaii who warns hotel magnate William Holden about a pending volcanic eruption. Holden of course chooses to ignore him (it’s only supposed to blow every thousand years!) focusing instead on romancing Jacqueline Bisset. Things get dangerously hot from there on.
