The first English-language Canadian film to screen at the Cannes Film Festival, this endearing University of Toronto-set debut focuses on the blooming relationship between shy freshman Peter (Henry Tarvainen) and popular upperclassman Doug (John Labow). Then-22-year-old filmmaker David Secter’s pioneering independent feature exudes the poignancy of homoeroticism and unspoken desire, subtly and daringly depicting collegiate camaraderie through the lens of cozy queer companionship.
