For what was to be his final feature, Reeves co-scripted an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Conqueror Worm,” the alternate title for the movie. Civil war in 17th-century England opens the door wide for fear-mongering witch-hunting, which Price brutally practices for his own financial and salacious satisfaction; as innocents are burned at the stake, Ian Ogilvy tries to stop him in his tracks. Price himself rated his portrayal here among his personal best. UK version.
