This essential document of one of the defining counter-cultural events of the ’60s was an enormous hit upon release, pieced together by seven editors including Martin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker and featuring performances by Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Joan Baez, Joe Cocker, and a dozen others. The 1994 director’s cut added 40 minutes of performances and verité footage.
