Following the success of The Quatermass Xperiment, Hammer fashioned another high-concept science-fiction horror tale, with Leslie Norman directing what was to be his only film for the studio. Scientist Dean Jagger and police inspector Leo McKern investigate when a British military training exercise unearths a deadly radioactive menace. Among the soldiers are Anthony Newley, Hammer habitué Michael Ripper, and future Monty Python TV director Ian MacNaughton.
