This November, the Quad Cinema invites you to our second annual Noirvember celebration with Femme Noir. This year we focus on the seductive, ambitious, and often dangerously misunderstood women of noir. We start with two film noir/melodrama hybrids from 1945 (Mildred Pierce and Leave Her to Heaven), featuring Oscar winning and nominated performances from Joan Crawford and Gene Tierney. We then move to the erotic thriller era of the 80s & 90s for the career breakthroughs of Kathleen Turner and Sharon Stone in the neo-noirs Body Heat and Basic Instinct. From maternal sacrifice to obsessive love and calculated seduction, we’ll explore the complex women at the heart of these dark, unsettling worlds.
